Second Amendment: Professor Mather Facebook Classics (Fall 2018)

Asked a student recently what changed her mind on the 2nd Amendment (right to carry on campus). She said, what you said in class that one day.
Which was?, the professor prompted.
Oh, it was when you said–this got me started to think about this in a fresh way, because I’d never even thought about it before–you said, if someone comes in here, right now, and starts shooting all us statuatorily defenseless people (cuz you can’t legally defend yourself in California like you can in Arizona or Texas), which political party benefits from that in the national media?
And?
And it was like, duh, the Democrats obviously benefit. They jump on every school shooting.
Ah ah, tsk tsk tsk, the professor said.
Oops.
Yeah, we don’t call them shootings, call them murders, attempted murders, assault with a deadly weapon, the professor reminded.
Yeah, and that’s a good point too, she said. So they benefit. They use kids to get elected, to enforce their policies.
Which are, the professor prompted.
Which are the same ones that disarmed you in the first place, leaving you vulnerable to school sho….to the murders that they then use to get elected again and get even more restrictive in their policies.
[Moment of silence on Democrat campus].
Yeah, the professor said, sighing .So what are we gonna do about it, he asked her after a bit.
She paused, and then looked up, and said, fight back.
Atta girl, the professor said, winking a non-creepy wink, as they walked toward the elevator and out onto the rest of California State University.
