I Think I’ll Let You Go After This
By Lucas Mather
After quizzes, at the beginning of class, I say, “I’ll probably just let you guys go after this. I mean, after the quiz. You’ll have done enough by then.”
Really?
Well, yeah. Look, there’s three options. I could let you go before this, in which case you’d be gone already. I could let you go right now, in which case I would be doing so right now. Or, the only other option is to let you go after this. In the future. The end of class is in the future–is “after this.”
So, you’re keeping us until the end of class?
Well, I can let you out 10 seconds early, if you like.
