Mary and Joseph Christmas to You, From The Republican Professor
Dear TRP guests, readers, listeners, friends and family,
In Season 1 of the hit 1970’s show “Mary Tyler Moore,” there is a Christmas episode. I lost count of the number of times that they said or displayed the words “Merry Christmas.” I didn’t once hear the words “Happy Holidays.”
It’s a snap shot into the recent past.
When I’m on Democrat campuses, generally speaking, they frown upon Mary Christmas. I don’t know what they have against Mary. Maybe they don’t know how to define the difference between Mary and Joseph any more.
So I wish everyone a Joseph Christmas. And there is not a damn thing they can say to that. I’ve been doing so for years.
It’s been a big year for The Republican Professor. We are closer to a million subscribers than we were a year ago. And, I still know the difference between Mary and Joseph.
More importantly, I know the difference between Mary and Jesus, her son. Mary needed a Savior (Luke 1: 47). Her son was her Savior, and is mine as well.
Christmas is about the Christ. Luke 2.11: “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” That term for “Lord” is the same term that translates the name of God in the Hebrew Bible.
So Merry Christmas to you.
Dr. Ljm, for TRP
