Beginning With Prayer on a Government Campus: Summer School in Lost Angeles, California
Lost Angeles Community College (LACCD) at a Lost Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD)
By Lucas J. Mather
Everybody have a good weekend?, the professor axed the high school kids in their first college class in the science room of their public campus.
Noo, yes, naw, it was boring , I had fun professor , came the student responses all at once .
Well, we’re continuing on in Philosophy of Religion today, so get your books and notes out and I’ll start us off in prayer before we review from last time.
[It got quiet as the students settled down].
Lord, thank you for this wonderful time on this tax-funded campus to study arguments for and against atheism, materialism, nihilism , and relativism . We’re so grateful the taxpayers of this area are picking up the tab to correct wrong beliefs and shed light into deep dark darkness. We ask you to light our ways according to your wisdom and understanding. Thank you for dying on the Cross Lord Jesus. Holy Spirit, energize us, renew us, convict us, comfort us. Father guide our steps and thank you for your forgiveness of sins against you . Thank you now for California , which recognizes Christmas , and which notices it’s approximately 2,018 years after Jesus the true Messiah was born . Thank you for the angels which minister to us and for the City of Los Angeles, named in their honor. Bless us and protect us today, in Jesus name, amen. Okay , let’s get back into the problem of evil….
….later…
Professor I’ve never seen a teacher pray . Is that supposed to happen?
Is atheism true?, the Professor axed.
No.
Then why not?
!!!. Good… point… I guess. See ya professor.
See ya.
